Year 2, Day 4: Shakespeare Institute -- Too much.

I finally have a moment to write.  My world here has picked up on a number of levels, so let me catch you up.  I got a job a Starbucks about two weeks before I passed in my Master's-level Dissertation/ Pilot Study (that's over at least.)  The project that I am directing for the Shakespeare Institute Players, Measure for Measure, was accepted into the RSC Open Stages project.  The RSC Open Stages project is something that goes on for the next two years, and which starts as a workshop weekend at the end of this month.  We don't even open at the Institute until next summer.  I have been asked to become the Technical Director of the Designing Shakespeare website, which is the most monster undertaking I've ever imagined and will probably be a job I am still doing well into my eighties.  I haven't heard back for certain, but I am also the Technical Director for the Shakespeare Institute, Shakespeare and Creativity MA program... that is if they have enough students to get this off the ground this year.

Do not get a job at Starbucks when working towards a PhD.  It will suck up all of your free time, and now more than ever, do you need free time.  You absolutely need time to think, though too much time becomes time to dwell.  Do as many jobs as you think you'd enjoy, and maybe one just for the money.  If you can make a healthy sum doing what you enjoy, dump the paycheck job.

My dissertation is in.  I'm supposed to be relaxing.  I have more to do now than I did when I was writing.  Gotta start cutting the fat away before the school term starts, otherwise I'm not going to hit the ground running... I'm gonna trip at the starting line, and be a step behind for the remainder three years.
